This position offers a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, providing regular weekday hours for a balanced work-life routine. Other benefits include:

What you will be doing: You’ll be responsible for assisting the manager, seamanship by performing a variety of routine to complex clerical and administrative duties in compliance with government and management directives. 

Essential functions: 

  1. Receive telephone calls and visitors; handle routine matters personally and route non-routine business to proper staff for consideration.  
  2. Prepare correspondence, control log, reports, and other information. Review and edit documents prepared by others. Update and maintain department policies, procedures and standing orders, as directed. 
  3. Develop and maintain systems for department files, records, and statistical data, ensuring confidentiality of information.
  4. Monitor and submit instructors’ daily attendance records. Update and maintain student progress reports. 
  5. Maintain department’s calendar of events, schedules and appointments. Coordinate meeting arrangements. Take and transcribe meeting minutes. 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years related experience. 
  • Requires working knowledge and experience with MS Office and database proficiency. 
  • Degree in business administration, human services or related fields, and background in the maritime industry and familiarity with Merchant mariner credentialing requirements preferred. 
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
