Domain Engineer Manager - Marine

 

Babcock Australasia is seeking a Domain Engineering Manager – Marine, where you'll drive strategy, development, and support for key Defence programs in Australia and New Zealand.

 

About the Role: In this dynamic position, you’ll:

  • Lead Engineering Excellence: Oversee the timely delivery of engineering artefacts, ensuring quality and adherence to engineering processes across multiple programs.
  • Drive Technical Strategy: Work alongside the Head of Engineering to create a Maritime Engineering Strategy that aligns with Babcock’s strategic objectives, supporting bids and technical planning for future growth.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Serve as a domain expert, collaborating with Operational Business Units to identify growth opportunities and deliver professional technical insights.
  • Support Regional Development: Contribute to establishing a regional engineering hub, providing governance and engineering authority to enhance project delivery standards.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Compliance: Strengthen safety-focused engineering approaches, ensure adherence to regulations, and maintain robust engineering standards.
  • Technical Leadership: Manage project-specific engineering documentation, lead technical investigations, and make informed, complex engineering decisions.
  • Product Safety & Assurance: Conduct technical risk assessments, oversee product safety, and maintain compliance with Defence and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote process innovation and sustainable engineering solutions to enhance business capabilities and community impact.

 

About You:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Washington Accord-accredited or equivalent), with relevant management and technical certifications.
  • Experience: 14+ years in technical/engineering roles, with at least 4 years in engineering management, ideally within the maritime or Defence sectors.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in engineering toolsets (e.g., PLM, MRP systems, design, and simulation software) and a solid understanding of Defence security clearance requirements.
  • Professional Membership: Chartered status in an engineering body, with a commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
