The Civil Maritime Sustainment Branch (CMSB) provides the ABF's air and maritime surveillance capability within Australia's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). This includes operating a fleet of vessels crewed by ABF officers who perform strategic patrols, tactical surveillance and on-water law enforcement activities within the EEZ. The Branch also manages contracted surveillance aircraft, satellite, sensor systems and logistics support to civil maritime operations. CMSB operates in a complex, challenging and changing environment that is characterised by a high tempo of civil maritime operations.
The Maritime Asset Availability Section provides oversight of maritime surveillance asset capability and is responsible for ensuring the Australian Border Force (ABF) maritime surveillance assets are operationally available for tasking by Maritime Border Command (MBC). This Section is the point of contact for any operational matters and acts as the liaison point with stakeholders which include MBC and Australian Border Operations Centre (AMBOC) in relation to asset availability.

Our ideal candidate
The Supervisor, Maritime Communications and Sensor Systems supports all secure radio communication on the ABF Maritime and Aviation assets. The role is responsible for maintaining contractual compliance with various satellite and radio communications suppliers.
Our ideal candidate will be proactive and adaptable with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. They will be required to provide support and mentoring within their operational teams and have the ability to foster productive relationships with third party vendors.
Successful candidates will have or be able to quickly develop a working knowledge of the ABF Vessel Management Plan, the ISM Safety Management System and other related International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulations. They will possess sound analysis and problem resolution skills to identify, understand and rectify technical faults, and will develop innovative solutions to optimise asset availability.
Experience providing on-the-job training will be highly regarded.
