Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Able Bodied Seaman to work full time aboard USAV Worthy at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. This position supports the Navy Division.

 

JOB DETAILS

LOCATION:   Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

JOB STATUS: Full-Time Living on the Island

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a Federal background check to obtain and hold a DoD Common Access Card (CAC). Ability to pass a post offer drug screen and physical/medical clearance. Current U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Current and Valid U.S. Passport.
  • Valid USCG Merchant Mariner, Credentials (AB Unlimited license), TWIC card, and Licenses/Certifications: AB Unlimited rating.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on an ocean-going vessel.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a post offer drug screen and physical/medical clearance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The seaman must hold USCG Mariner Certification as an Able Seaman Unlimited and be able to be cleared for access to Department of Defense facilities.
  • An Able Seaman stands watch as helmsman and lookout, stands security-related watches, performs general maintenance, repair, sanitation, and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas in the deck department.
  • Maintains lifeboats, rescue boats, and emergency and damage control gear.
  • Must be familiar with lifting and deploying equipment from and to the deck using winches, cranes, A-frames, and other lifting devices.
