Who we are

NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider for the North-East (RMP-NE) region, delivering project management capabilities, technical expertise and quality assurance activities for the Royal Australian Navy fleet.

Our advanced maritime sustainment planning coordinates fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland, Northern Australia and adjacent waters for the Commonwealth of Australia.

Due to demand for our services, we are expanding rapidly and developing further capacity for more vessel platforms.

Note: This position requires Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (minimum Baseline).

About the role

The role will be working with a dedicated team of maritime professionals providing maintenance services for a RAN vessel. It will support the team by delivering engineering requirements to the project.

Some (but not all) responsibilities include:

  • Support to defect and maintenance investigations.
  • Preparation of technical advice.
  • Management of configuration changes.
  • Preparation of Requests for Variation.
  • Development of Certification Basis review reports.
  • Development of Applications for Deviation.
  • Management of technical data and identification of new technical data required to conduct engineering services.

The role is an initial six-month fixed-term contract but is highly likely to be extended for the life of the project.

About you

You have a minimum of five years' experience in a Defence-related environment, with a high degree of familiarity with Defence statutory compliance. Self-driven and self-motivated, you pay attention to the details. You can provide excellent analysis of a problem and work well with others with your problem-solving techniques. You are experienced with complex maintenance management systems. You have great interpersonal skills and able to report well using

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary-qualified Engineer able to satisfy entry requirements for membership in Engineers Australia as a professional engineer/technologist.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Defense Engineering environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Defense Technical Library, RPEQ certification and professional engineering requirements in an RAN context;
