WSP is currently initiating a search for an Intermediate Estimator/Scheduler to be located in any of our following offices: Portland, Oregon; Orlando, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Raleigh, North Carolina; Houston, Texas; Virginia Beach, VA

The successful candidate will be involved in projects with our Ports and Maritime Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Our Maritime group comprises of highly motivated analysts, planners, and maritime civil and structural engineers, working in several key locations across the US and internationally. Major clients are port authorities, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, terminal operators, contractors, private entities, and municipalities. Your Impact

Estimating Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering drawings, specifications, and related documents for various disciplines.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying criteria, drawings, specifications, and other related documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing tasks on-time and meeting scope expectations 
  • Attend client meetings and contract negotiations in-person at client's office

Scheduling Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain integrated baseline lifecycle schedules. 
  • Regularly update, provide progress reports, and publication of the master schedule.   
  • Identify and communicate variances from the original plan and baseline snapshots.
  • Evaluate schedule progress, performance, and identify developing problem areas.
  • Process project changes into baseline and live schedules.
  • Analyze critical path and constraints to determine the effect of progress changes to schedule and recommend solutions to ensure baseline key milestones are achieved.
  • Support administration functions to ensure EPPM data, global code fields, baseline copies and data interface to other applications are maintained properly.
  • Assist with the facilitation of project review meetings and actively interact with project team members.
  • Assist and interact with team members to drive out continual improvement of schedule, project controls metrics, and other performance indicators. 
Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of related experience in heavy civil/structural estimating and scheduling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical field preferred.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinker.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Ability to demonstrate progressively increasing responsibility in estimating, working effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read construction plans to develop cost estimates and construction schedules 
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Minimum Estimating Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skill/experience in development of Conceptual through Bid Document crew-based or unit price cost estimates 
  • Strong knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff or Bluebeam software and MS Office applications.
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and negotiating force account estimates
  • Working knowledge in use of MII (Micro-Computer Aided Cost Estimating System/MCASES - Second Generation).

Preferred Estimating Qualifications:

  • PMP, PMI-SP or AACE certificate is preferred.
  • Working knowledge in use of HCSS HeavyBid, Sage Timberline, and/or other estimating software applications
  • Construction contractor estimating experience

Minimum Scheduling Qualifications:

  • Experience using Oracle Primavera P6 and EPPM application.
  • Experience in MS Power BI Service, Oracle BI or other data analytics platforms. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future 

Preferred Scheduling Qualifications:

  • Experience using Microsoft Project and/or PMA Technologies NetPoint®
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
  • Construction contractor estimating scheduling experience
