We are seeking a Manager (Maritime Labor Convention) to support our client in Dulles, VA. Please see below to find the job description;

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provide management support to the Maritime Labor and Marine Investigations Division. Assist other department managers, including Maritime Security as available through coordination by the Director, Maritime Labor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage MLC implementation, review and acceptance of shipowners Declaration of Maritime Labor Compliance, including ILO Exemptions.

• Manage records and quarterly payment to the Liberian Maritime Union in Monrovia for all Social Partner Consultations with the Union.

• Review Audit Reports of SRPS for issuance of SRPS letters permitting the SRPS to recruit seafarers on registered ships.

• Monitor MLC financial security documents for MLC Fleet.

• Assist in preparation of the annual, monthly, weekly, and daily MLC report on inspection activities in coordination with Fleet Performance Department.

• Assist in investigation and resolution of incidents involving crew complaints related to MLC and crew abandonment.

• Assist as may be required, in scheduling additional MLC inspection of ships toward resolution of crew complaints related to MLC, in coordination with Audit and Fleet Performance departments.

• Monitor communication with shipowners and shipmanagers to ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries.

• Assist in review of new or amended international requirements in preparation of updates/revisions of Administration guidance to ensure proper and timely application.

• Performs other duties and projects as required.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

Experience, Education and Certification

• Bachelor of Science Maritime Transportation/Engineering or equivalent technical degree or experience.

• Maritime Industry experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Able to read, understand and interpret Maritime Law, Maritime Regulations, and MLC, 2006

• Familiar with nautical terms regarding construction and operation of ships, offshore platforms and oil rigs

• Speak and understand English

• Excellent English writing skills.

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and use of General office equipment • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Ability to enter and retrieve data from Data Programs.

• Able to lift approximately 15 – 20 lbs.
