Overview

As a Marine Engineer every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the opportunity to get involved in concept surface & sub-surface vessel design, complex engineering design & analysis tasks, the creation of new & innovative tools & processes, the delivery of engineering consultancy services, and the development of decarbonisation solutions & other emerging technologies across a wide range of global maritime programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Define & conduct specific engineering analysis and project management techniques and keep abreast of emerging technologies that could improve the company and/or client processes & outputs.
  • Investigate & solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed design phases.
  • Develop & maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
  • Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, Naval Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
  • Member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).

Essential skills

  • Experienced in at least one of the following key technical knowledge areas:
  • Primary & secondary propulsion systems.
  • Power generation & electrical distribution.
  • Marine Structures (Main & Auxi, CAT A,B Seats)
  • Auxiliary machinery and mechanical/fluid ship systems.
  • P&ID Development
  • Detailed design

Desired Skills

  • An understanding of the role of a Marine Engineer and design codes & standards throughout all stages of the equipment lifecycle.
  • Experience of working in small multi-discipline teams with an ability to communicate effectively.
  • The motivation to excel and achieve professional recognition, accreditation & progression.

Experience

  • The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience (6 years for non-degree qualified) working in either the commercial or naval maritime domain.

What do I need before I apply

  • The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.
  • We are interested in engaging with all candidates with the necessary experience, however it should be noted that naval projects may be subject to initial security considerations (e.g., sole UK nationality and eligible for ‘Security Check’ (SC) or ‘Developed Vetting’ (DV) security clearance).
