Position Overview:

As an Engineering Manager, you will direct and coordinate activities of the engineering department to design and test components, products, and systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervision. We are looking for someone that demonstrates strong supervisory and leadership skills as well as the ability to collaborate effectively.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of about 8 Engineers.
  • Help your team manage and prioritize their workload.
  • Connecting team members to work on the correct projects.
  • Work closely with Project Managers.
  • Lead departmental activities to innovate new products, refine existing designs, and enhance production methods.
  • Utilize knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles to produce plans, drawings, and models.
  • Resolve challenges by using innovative solution technologies, novel technologies, or concepts.
  • Analyze technology trends, assess human resource requirements, and evaluate market demands to strategize projects.
  • Collaborate with management, production, and marketing teams to assess engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer needs.
  • Forecast departmental operating costs and prepare annual budget proposals.
  • Inform management about any developments that may impact profit, scheduling, costs, customer relations, or inter department dynamics.
  • Provide guidance and leadership of company policies and procedures within the engineering team.
  • Exercise good judgment to assess the cost effectiveness of potential actions and choose the best course of action.
  • Stay up to date on new technologies and make recommendations as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Develop labor hour schedules, budgets, and forecasts for engineering activities.
  • Define, develop, and uphold engineering standards
  • Implement procedures and practices to optimize the efficiency of the Engineering Department.
  • Oversee hiring, training, team performance, and conflict resolution processes.
  • Possess expertise in power distribution and familiatiry with mil-spec requirements applicable to our product line.
  • Lead the team in performing FEA and other computer analyses on our product line.

 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Government Security
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with knowledge of our product line.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Switchboard experience or a background in the defense field.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams toward organizational goals.
  • Proficient in using logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions to problems.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and Trident locations as needed.
