Project Manager – Maritime

As a Senior Manager with K39 Consulting you will offer innovative solutions to our clients. You will build rapport with our clients through exceeding expectations and upholding the K39 values and behaviours.

The Project Manager – Maritime is responsible for leading and delivering complex maritime projects within the Australian Defence Industry. This role involves managing the lifecycle of maritime defence projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and completion, while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

You will be adaptable and deliver to a broad range of clients, confident to lead a team or deliver autonomously.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversee project activities by applying established project management practices and methodologies and support strategic planning and governance functions.

  • Offer technical expertise and precise advice on monitoring and controlling projects and programs, including solutions for managing risks and seizing opportunities.

  • Review and assess planning and scheduling activities in relation to critical factors and recommend ongoing improvements.

  • Ensure adherence to Defence risk management policies and procedures to effectively handle complex project risks and support risk-informed decision-making.

  • Provide support and mentorship to team members, aligning their skills and allocating resources effectively to achieve project goals.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor program strategies, plans, and risk management approaches to ensure successful delivery and reporting in line with Defence asset management requirements and expectations.

  • Stakeholder management including presenting plans, progress reports and outcomes of project objectives to clients.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications or certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable

  • Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in the maritime or defence industry, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
