The Project Officer position in Maritime Studies is currently available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), with flexible start time (late 2024) in Dr. Ran Yanβs research team, who joined CEE at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in March 2023 as an assistant professor.
The appointment is normally for 1 year with a provision for further extensions subject to good performance and availability of research funding. Possible research topics include but are not limited to data analytics in maritime studies, big data in shipping, shipping and port management, and green shipping management. Other related and proper research topics are also welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop state-of-the-art and innovative models and algorithms to improve port and shipping management efficiency
Propose solutions based on data analytics and operations research to address maritime practical problems
Conduct extensive numerical experiments to validate the performance of the proposed models
Present the research results as academic papers and reports
Job Requirements:
Bachelor degree in transport engineering, maritime transport and management, computer science, or a related field from a good university
Excellent programming skills, such as Python, C++, Java, Julia, or other competent languages
Good record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals or conferences in maritime transport, logistics management, machine learning, deep learning, and optimization
Proficient in written and spoken English is essential to conduct research
Experience in proposal writing and funding application is a plus
