A little bit about the role:

ORBCOMM is looking for a vibrant and self-motivated Sales Leader to join our team. The Sales Leader, Maritime IoT (VP Sales) will be responsible for selling ORBCOMM products and services globally across the Maritime market and managing a team of Business Development Managers globally, attaining quarterly sales targets, developing and maintaining key customer relationships, establishing strategic business relations and providing ideas for all sales plans and their implementation. We are looking for someone with a creative mind and strong communication skills. This role will be reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer with a matrixed reporting structure to the General Manager of the Maritime Line of Business.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Grow Orbcomm Maritime IoT revenue through new customer acquisition and expansion of current customer base
  • Hire, Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing global Maritime Sales team. Build a world class organization, that exceeds growth and revenue targets
  • Align Global Strategy with Maritime General Manager, Product Group, Marketing, and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure the Maritime sales team is equipped with the necessary tools, training, and resources needed to succeed.
  • Set sales targets, KPIs and metrics to ensure success
  • Identify growth opportunities in existing regions & markets as it relates to connected logistics in the Maritime market
  • Monitor global market trends, customer needs and competitive activities and report on competitor activities and the competitive landscape
  • Drive forecasting across Maritime sales org to ensure alignment with Revenue Operations and Supply Chain
  • Implement cadence/inspection to manage organization against agreed targets. Direct/Manage Individual Contributors to KPIs, and performance manage as required
  • Utilize leadership and management skills to close gaps between actual and forecasted results
  • Participate in sales process with team members, ensure alignment on opportunities, and lead
  • Report on sales performance to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations for improvements

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive Sales leadership experience, ideally in IoT, with a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth on a global scale
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong negotiation and presentation abilities
  • Must be willing to travel internationally on an ongoing basis.
  • Computer Literacy, intermediate to advanced in terms of MS Teams, MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and SFDC.

  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, carry out assignments, meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude that is motivational to the team
