Would you like to be part of a dedicated DevOps team that builds desktop and cloud software solutions for strength assessment of offshore and maritime structures?  

The Product Centre Renewables and Ocean Structures is seeking an inspired Offshore/Maritime Engineer to join our Strength Assessment team as Software Developer. You will play a key role in development of the DNV Sesam software system (https://www.dnv.com/sesam).

DNV Sesam software is a global market leader in the maritime and oil & gas industries. With the world transforming towards renewable energy, Sesam is also becoming key for the design and operation of fixed and floating offshore wind turbine (OWT) structures.  

Your primary responsibility will be to work as an engineering domain expert in structural analysis at Sesam. The Strength Assessment team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Sesam modules for code-checking (ULS and FLS) for beam and plate-type structures according to standards like Eurocode, ISO, DNV and API. The team is also responsible for development of our finite element solver and associated FE-tools. The team consists of domain engineers, developers with an engineering domain background and software developers.

The Product Centre consists of 80+ dedicated developers and engineers in multiple locations such as Oslo, Bristol, Shanghai, Gdynia and we are expanding to Pune, India. The Product Centre is responsible for software development, software technology, architecture, testing and operations of advanced engineering software like Sesam, Bladed, WindFarmer and SolarFarmer. You will be part of a motivated team consisting of domain experts, professional software engineers, software testers, product owners, product managers and technical support engineers who pride themselves in delivering high-quality software. You will get the opportunity to solve hard and interesting problems.

Main responsibilities: 

  • Development of Sesam strength assessment tools to support standards like Eurocode, ISO, DNV, API covering both frame and plate-type structures
  • Development of our Sesam finite element solvers used for strength assessment of maritime, offshore and renewable structures. 
  • Together with the Strength Assessment team, responsible for enhancing and renewing the architecture of the Sesam strength assessment modules
  • Contribute to analysing and improving computational performance
  • Contribute to cloud-enabling our large collection of analysis software
  • Contribute to improving the performance and user experience of OWT workflows
  • Contribute to improving our automated build and test systems

Qualifications
Position Qualifications :
  • MSc or higher within Naval Architect, Maritime Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience in maritime, offshore or renewable engineering
  • Knowledge of code-checking of frame or plate type structures according to standards like Eurocode, ISO, DNV, API 
  • Familiar with CAE tools – preferably with knowledge of finite element methods and hydrodynamics
  • Preferably some years of experience with professional software development
  • Experience with programming languages, frameworks, and tools for both desktop and cloud, such as C#, C++, Fortran, Python
  • Experience with CI/CD. We use Azure DevOps
